I'm a big meaninie and started pellets around 8 weeks. They had to work at it but kept them busy. Honestly, it's alot easier to scatter and keep them running and active. Crumbs are the spawn of Satan (as far as mess) and I switch as soon as they can get their beaks on big stuff.
I moved my boys to scratch early and mixed it with the crumbs because they were *plowing* through the crumbs and acted like they were starving all the time. Took me a bit too remember that babies are never full lol!
I buy an extra head of lettuce for them. They get fruits and veggies that get forgotten. In fact, if they see me in the kitchen making dinner, they think I'm making their dinner. They'll even knock at the sliding glass door to remind me that they're waiting for their salad haha
Oi. Maybe I over spoiled them.

, and they love doing that. I've also heard of freezing treats in a block of ice, freezing new treats a layer at a time, and putting it in their pools. That way, it keeps their pool cool, and gives them something new to nibble on as a layer melts in the heat. I've been wanting to do that, but I have to be careful what veggies the koi have access to, it makes it a bit more complicated
