My babies are growing up !

My babies are growing up !! the mallards are 2 weeks and are getting some adult feathers on their chest and wings! the khakis are 3 weeks but I can't tell if they are getting any new feathers, one is missing some feathers around his neck though. also they all have puffy tails! so sad how fast they grow up I will post a video of them shortly once it gets uploaded to youtube...So about a hour

Cute! Mallards tend to mature fast, probably faster than other breeds. I hope that one with the missing feathers on his neck isn't getting picked on.

Yeah I noticed that too. Bit I've been watching and no picking do maybe he just losing his baby feathers??

when will they start to quack? I think they are trying to. they will imitate you with their tweeting also lol it's so cute!

Oh I love the look of Pekin! After these grow up and if I have more than one drake I might sell him and get a female Pekin, we'll see.

They should start to quack around five to six weeks, perhaps a little earlier. It'll start as a "peep-quack" where the ducking will peep and once in a while a quack will pop out. For males, their voices will get gradually raspier after four weeks.

I brought home 3 Pekins from our local TSC last week and they are precious and messy! I can already see them growing. We are enjoying them so much.
