I know it was close I almost didn't get that roo and THEN I'd be annoyed!

LISA: Yeah, my hubby, the big bad man who didn't want anything to DO with the chickens - you should see him now

He even talks to them!

I have been givibng the babies new foods to try. Big hits so far. They love dandelion greens shredded into tiny bits.

It's so funny, because one will get a piece, and then run all over the brooder with three or four others in pursuit, when there's a big old pile of greens in the food dish.

They also liked the pith of an acorn squash last night, minced apple and minced tomato.

One of my ladies has the same issue so I decided to call her pooter as in pooter butt. she's a white cochin so it really shows on her fluffy butt.
But she's still cute as is her sister Tweetie, love their fuzzy leggins

I have 50 in the brooder right now. All they do is eat and poop. They are 5.5 weeks old, and they go through 6 lbs of feed everyday. We've given them pumpkins and they are starting to eat those, so maybe we'll save a little.

Dang cute babies. They don't stay that way for long.

Here's tweetie at 3 weeks old. Love her angel white wings. She insists on a finger ride every morning when I change the water and give them more food.

Well, my girls are now jumping out of the brooder box. I'd say it's time to either change to a covered box, or move them outside. We're having a cold snap right now, so I don't want to put them out yet.
