My babies went out the day they turned 6 weeks. Monday will be the 7 week mark, though I do have 5 week olds, 6 week olds, and 7 week olds. The 6 week olds are the ones out there right now. I hope everyone gets a kick out of the pics. I am still adding to the coop. I am going to install a roosting pole and I still have to get the big feeders and waterers. I'm on a budget, but I plan to get more stuff next paycheck.

Here is my coop:

Here is my 9 year old feeding them:

Here she is inside the coop with one of her Bantam Splash Cochin hens:

And the funniest pic I got yesterday afternoon. The birds had me cracking up cause I'd never seen a chicken lay down on their side and just "relax". My Silkie Heidi kept doing it, but she couldn't quite maintain her balance and she kept nearly falling completely backwards, like onto her back, and she had to keep righting herself each time. Add into that the fact that my Cochin hens kept thinking it was mighty funny to step on Heidi's head. They would wait for her to lay like that, then come step on her, little bullies. I caught a few of my birds relaxing like that, but Heidi was the cutest. Here she is:

And here is my daughter again, though this time she is snuggling Omelet, one of our two Sexlink pullets. Omelet LOVED the neck massage and went to sleep in my daughter's lap. She adores my daughter. Here is the picture:

And one last one of Omelet. She gets so excited when we come out to the coop. She can't wait for us to open the door and come in with a chair so she can jump up on us for her petting and neck rubs. Here she is, the eager beaver:

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures!

Good photos and such beautiful hens. When I first saw one of my chicks lay on their side I thought something must be wrong, but I think she was only attempting to take a dust bath. Now I see my pullets laying on their side in the sunshine - chicken sunbathing

Lmfao @ the silkie...I had a hen doing the same thing resting on the pop-door stoop that drops off on one side into the coop, she leaded so far back and stretched so long that she fell right off into the coop.
