I am so thrilled I can hardly stand it. My three broody hens have babies and it's almost like I delivered them myselves. So far, all we've seen are crested polish. There is one sex link egg, and the otheres I don't know if polish or something else (eggs were given to me by friend) The babies are adoreable!!!Grandson (9), my chicken helper, is ecstatic.

yay!!

i got chicks two days ago. they are lil silkie muts.

they got off to a rough start because their mom took a huge dump all over them. And we had to bath them on their first day of life. i was worried so I held the blow dryer to them for like two hours while they dried up thoroughly. Then I ran off to make them a heat lamp system. I usually don't use a lamp because its never really cold, and i've had great success without it. but with these lil guys i felt the need to take the precaution due to their rough start.

Now they are in the brooder and all are drinking and eating and chirping! its awesome.

this is my third litter of these mixed silkies. I sold the other two to the local farm store for a nice chunk of change, but i think i am keeping these as one of my roos passed away, and i recently created a corral for them that will hold 8, and only have three. So five will stay, including the sole heir of my fallen roo.
