we found this cute little duck on the road. It was abandoned and lost. it’s leg wasn’t in the best condition he couldn’t walk. we took him home and try to give him water. The next day he started chirping and we fell in love with him. he was less than 2 weeks old. I was so in love with him we would watch him and give him baths. and the next day we did the same he was in could care. And now we are in today. So today he woke up good and everything. but then he wasn’t feeling okay his neck was like broken.😢 he could not chirp I could tell he was sad. his head would be upside down. Like it was twisted. I could see his eyes he was crying but without a noise. I knew he wasn’t good. Then he started to spaz out😣. His whole body was moving EVERYTHING. then sadly he shocked and died in my hand.😭😭 the poor duck didn’t deserve to die so young. WE DID HE DIE?! I DON’T GET IT HE WAS
DOING FINE AND OUT OF NOWHERE HIS NECK BROKE. WE DONT KNOW WHY!!!

sorry for your loss. i lost a sick duckling today too and it is pretty devastating. at least he is no longer in pain. sometimes there is just something wrong with their health :(

he was a bit twitchy when alive. i don't know. he was twisted from hatching (only about 30hrs old), couldnt stand, neck was 'sideways'. in brooder under heat plate with two other ducklings and a chick. i got up this morning at 6:30 to check and found that he somehow dragged himself to the other side of brooder where the chick waterer is and wedged himself in the 2cm gap behind it where medical tape attached the cardboard to the plastic floor. some was loose and i guess he got stuck to it. without enough heat... :/

i feel really bad because i didn't check during the night. i thought i heard something as well, but, i didn't. maybe it would have never recovered from whatever it was born with anyway, but i still feel responsible. and sorry for hijacking your thread with this story lol. i guess it's something we have to come to terms with when looking after animals, sadly not all will survive :(

No no it’s good thank you for sharing your story I hope the duck goes to heaven and lives his life better there.
I just want to know why my duck died.
Was it a disease?

i don't know much. i heard that most leg and neck problems in ducks come from niacin deficiency. you're supposed to give them b supplement or brewer's yeast if you can't get 'waterfowl chick food' but dying from seizure sounds like a neurological problem. sorry i can't help more :/

we only gave it fruits and water.
ugh I can still feel the way he died on my hand and it’s like I can’t move it😣
