so I had two baby ducks and 6 baby chicks (all about 3 weeks old). Yesterday, one of the ducklings died. Ever since then I have noticed my Pekin duckling is panting (or so it looks) and making a weezing/heavy breathing sound. I don't think it's too hot, the brooder is about 80 degrees.

The day before the duckling died, we let them explore outside and splash around in their little water tub.

    need advice =/

    I love my duck.

What are you feeding them- medicated starter? If so, switch to a gamebird or waterfowl starter immediately. Waterfowl cannot have medicated feed, they also require niacin for proper growth (if they don't have the niacin, lots of problems develop- like leg and wing issues). That's the only thing I can think of if there aren't any brooder issues. You may get more replies if you post this in the duck section.....good luck. I hope your duckling pulls thru!
