Hi,Picture 2 has the bruise I was asking if the egg had
He was not in the air cell and couldnāt break the shell to get air
Going forward on your next ones ri hatch
Watch for that bruise
When I see a bruise I immediately put a safety hole in the centre of it
Not a big hole only the size of a sharpened pencil end
We donāt want a ton of air to get in and dry them out but we need them to get air to live
I leave the egg be for 24 hours
Then I will either make that hole a bit bigger or if they have moved slightly and bruise a new area I make the hole there no bigger then a dime then leave them be till itās been 48 hours minimum after that we can slowly start to peel shell and see what the veins are doing
Iām so sorry you lost him as you put your whole heart into this baby
I have lost a few my first hatch
One I helped to much to soon and the other was a bruise at the wrong end and I didnāt know
My last loss was my twins who bruised just outside the air cell in the middle of the night and were dead by morning when I found the bruise
I took it pretty hard so I get every emotion you are feeling
We can only learn from each hatch and now you know if you see a bruise outside the air cell you can take action right away
I hope the other eggs you have going give you some little ones
Try not to beat yourself up, we all make mistakes in hatching. I know it's really upsetting, and how you feel right now is completely valid. I'm sorry for your lossHi,
I had no idea about bruising. If I did I would have put a hole in it immediately.
It wasnāt there yesterday, so does that bruise mean death? If not what does it mean?
I know he was trying so hard and I shouldnāt helped but everyone says not to.
At least me would have had a chance.
This is only my second hatch and I had a baby born with his yolk sac still fully attached and he couldnāt even lift his little head up. I had to intervene because he just couldnāt get out of his shell.
He survived and is now happy and healthy.
I wish I would have known about bruising!
I could have saved him!
I feel sick right now.
I just looked at the bruise and it is is not on the air sac, just slightly above it..Picture 2 has the bruise I was asking if the egg had

Hi my friend,Exactly
He wasnāt able to get into the air cell so he tried getting out of the egg
My guess is his beak is right by the bruise
So sorryHi my friend,
I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your kindness, and everyoneās empathy and support.
I did an eggtopsy because I needed to find out what happened.
The baby was beautiful and fully developed, but his beak was stuck under his wing instead of being up against the air sac. I āthinkā the movement may have been from somewhere else. There was no liquid left inside the egg either. But the oddest thing is that his belly is see through!!! Itās not an unabsorbed yolk sac because I dealt with that on a baby with my first hatch.
I examined him very closely and it is his belly, and Iāve never seen anything like it before. I just sobbed seeing this perfect baby who never got the chance to live.
Iām going to start a new thread and see if anyone knows what happened.
The photos are graphic, but I need to know what this is.
Maybe youāll know.
Thank you again and blessings to you.![]()
