I just got new chicks and I am new as raising them. I noticed one of them having a hard time walking, she gets around but seems to lose her balance. I took a look at her feet and notice that 2 toes on each foot is webbed together. One web goes all the way up to the nail and the one toe doesn't have a nail.

I have read that folks cut the webbing.

Has anyone have experience doing this. I am nervous to cut the babies toes.

what supplies do i need? should I do it now when newborn or wait a few weeks?

thanks for your help.

I am not an expert and cant help you much but i think that you have to do it very soon after the first week so it can learn to walk somehow

What about using a razor and a cream for wounds?

I have a chick that was born with the second and third toes webbed together. It made it harder for it to walk well. I decided it was time to do something. I took a scalpel and tried to cut the web, but it would not (after using alcohol on the foot and scalpel)! I then took a good pair of scissors and cut the web. There was very little blood, and no indication of pain. The toe is spreading out. Success!

the posters name is fc.

this was just posted last night, if it doesn't hlp then try PMing the poster I'm sure she would help you

I did it and it was a success! thanks for the info. She seems to be healing up nicely. I am so proud of myself.
