my babys stuck

Its deffinatly stuck, it has been in the same possition for 24hr+ now, shes chirpy but cant move shes made quite a big hole but her head appears to be twisted and cant move at all. Ive decided to help, what i need to know is when i chip the shell off do i then wrap her in a damp cloth and put back in the bator?

I helped one that my broody left and it hadn't pipped very far at all. But because it was cold I decided to help. I had in a wet rag while I took the shell off but I didn't wrap it after that, I just put it in my incubator, which warms up really quickly, thank goodness. It was really weak, and had a yolk sac of sorts, but after a few hours it was dry and I helped it drink some water and gave it back to mom. For the next few days I made sure that I got some food and water, but now after two weeks I can't tell which one it is. I guess mama hen had decided that 8 babies was enough, fooled her.

I think that they usually wrap them in a moist towel if they aren't fully ready to hatch. Good luck with you little one.

well ive helped all i could sore a tiny bit of blood so have wrapped her up and put her back. shes fully stuck tho cant move her head at all. ill wait a few hrs and then do some more theres noway shell be able to do this herself

There was blood when I helped mine as well. I thought I had killed the poor thing, but since it was cold and had pipped and then no mama humidity I figured it was going to die with or without me. And I am so new to chickens I did not expect to see if just lying there with its eyes closed. I thought that it was a preemie. I guess it was just really weak, tired, and cold. I was SOOOO glad to see those little eyes open in a few hours. I just don't know how much blood is "normal" and how much is a lot.

I helped one by finishing to lightly break the rest of the way around the top, misted and closed the bator, let it rest a bit and it was able to push free from the top. It was still stuck on the bottom after a while, so I took it out of the egg tray and laid it down, misted and it was able to finish after another rest. It was my fault it was stuck to begin with (I opened the bator after it had pipped and partially zipped), so I wasn't worried there was a health problem preventing it from getting out.

In my defense I had several backyard eggs and only two possibles of some shipped I've really wanted for a long time hatching at the same time. It was crowded from several of the backyards already hatched and dried and some of them were being bullys. They were picking at and trampling my one lone precious and another backyard that had just hatched. The one I helped is fine, the other backyard they were trampling didn't make it. I know exactly who their mothers are and won't be hatching anymore of their beastly offspring.

ive taken the top half of her shell off but left the bottom on giving her time to rest and build up strenth if she stays alive she should be able wiggle the rest off herself my fingers are crossed
