Hi there

Just wanted to show you my two greenlegged partridge hens (it's a native polish breed). They're 6 months and a half. I hatched 4 chicks in Sept. last year but two were roos so I had to rehome them. This are Sasha an Masha:

Today was their first full day in the garden. They spent winter in my garage

. The coop should be ready in a few days so hopefully soon they will enjoy being outside all the time.

Sasha's first egg (looks big because it's my 7 year old who's holding it

I've got some babies, too:

Well, actually they're 4 weeks now

but it's so hard to take a picture of them - keep running around like mad

Thank you

I must say I was quite surprised how colourful they are - the pics I saw before didn't really show the real colours (they looked rather plain).

The chicks are also the same breed. I need (want) 6 hens alltogether because we like eating eggs

I was planning to have 4 of those and 2 leghorns but My last hatch of leghorns was a disaster (detached air cells) and I ended up with 2 chicks only. So later this year I might cross leghorn roo over GLP hen.

Yes, that's the official name of that breed. I don't think they're very popular outside of Poland - they almost became extinct because they need space and aren't as "effective" as sex-links.

Thank you for sharing! Beautiful girls, adorable babies.. I love the Partridge color and your Greenlegged Partridges are really nice... At first, I thought "WOW--that egg from those girls"..glad you explained..LOL

My sister and her husband are moving to Wroclaw next month. I'm trying to figure out what kind of hatching eggs I can talk her into bringing back to me. She said, "Everything isn't about chickens." Of course, she couldn't be more wrong lol.

Your girls look like they have plenty of room to roam.

I love their eyes! They look rather suprised to have their picture taken.
