My bantam chicken has warts

I have a bantam chicken that lives in the backyard. He/she (I do not know the gender) has developed some sorts of warts around the beak and face. I don't know if I should take immediate action or just let it heal itself. Is there a remedy? What is it in the first place? I have attached some pictures that I took of her/him with the warts on the beak.

My first thought is dry fowl pox. Take a look at this link to see if the symptoms match. There isn't anything much you can do other than supportive care as it is a virus.

Not matter what it may be, it would be best to isolate the bird in case that helps the spread of the condition.

I agree with Lady of McCamley that it could be fowl pox, which is carried by mosquitoes in hot weather. There is also a type of bump that is seen on chick's faces especially around the beak sometimes that may be due to an injury on sharp objects, or possible from a papillovirus. If you do a search BYC forums for "wart or sore on beak" you may find info on that. But it may well be pox, and that usually lasts for several weeks. Make sure that the chicken is eating and drinking well, since there is a wet form of pox that affects the throat.
