My bantam Cochins. 7 weeks now. NEW PICTURES =)

Well, here they are again. 7 weeks now, and he's definitely pure black and has finally grown all of his feathers!

They are just to precious, so I had to take more pictures. They both still fit in one hand
idunno.gif
Wouldn't that be cool if they didn't grow any bigger???
lol.png
They are like like parakeets, they fly right up onto my shoulder and sing in my ear
hugs.gif
All of our hens love us, but none of them ever want to snuggle when they can be scratching around the grass, but these guys don't leave my side

I have decided to name here Piccolina and I am pretty sure I am going to name him Little Jerry Seinfeld. But if he turns into a really cocky rooster then we will probably call him Napoleon

They're so pretty! I love the names you've chosen too. And I'll cross my fingers for you that they stay so small. My bantam cochins are so teeny, and I just love them! I enjoy their tininess!

Do you have any boys? If so, how loud and ofter does he crow?
We are worried that we have to rehome him, because we have ONE horrible neighbor. Noone elses minds the sound

I decided that if one of mine is a roo, Im going to keep him inside and let him out everyday to hang with the girls

I have a nasty neighbor too.

We did that with our first rooster, but he was a giant. He was Brahma and Cochin

They still complained

We put him out at 9:30 or 10. But I am sure that it will be fine with a bantam. I it really upsetting because after we went to court (we had already found him a "good" home with family "friends" and he was killed) the judge told us that we didn't break the law! We could have kept him! The animal control officer is the one that said we were breaking the law because someone had complained about the noise. But there are horrendous noises that go on ALL day long start at 8 AM! So, I wouldn't be worried about this little guy, but we have 16 chickens now and the legal limit is 6. They have more than enough room and are spoiled to death, so we are not hoarding or anything like that. But I know that if someone calls the cops again and the same woman shows up that she will give us a ticket and make us get rid of them.

I can understand. I had six chicks about 7 yrs ago. One turned into a roo and I thought we couldnt have them. So had to get rid of him.

Found out we can have them. Very frustrating!

Im also afraid Im going to end up with more than my limit

rebecca - fantastic pics and beautiful birds!

Did you say they are seven weeks and your roo is already crowing? My babies are 7 weeks as well, but no crowing for us.... of course, I have totally different breeds.

I was born and raised in Oakland... yay for the Bay Area!

Well that's the thing, we were told by the police before we had any of them, that we were not allowed roosters because of the noise. The law says that we are allowed 6 fowl. Nothing about roosters. There is no way to prove that we were breaking the noise law. But I am telling you, every morning you hear weed wackers, lawn mowers, motorcycles, airplanes, etc.

Why are these horrible sounds acceptible to people, but the noise of a random crow throughout the day enraging?!?! This person threatened to kill him! And never got in trouble for threatning the life of our animals

No, he is not crowing but everyone told me that he is a boy for sure because he started getting red so early. I am still praying that he could be a very manly looking girl
fl.gif
But he is heavier than she is, developed his feathers MUCH more slowly, etc. I read a chart to help guess and all the signs that it could be a rooster are evident in him

But I really would love a rooster. They are so much fun, they protect the girls, make babies
