My barn cat appeared dead

hello this is very hard to type so bare with me. My barn cat Oreo appeared dead. I’m pretty sure he died yesterday, because we were wondering why he didn’t show up for dinner at night yesterday. This morning I got worried because there was still no sign of him. I looked all over the place and I found him under a round bale in the barn (as seen in the photo) at first I thought he got squished but when I pulled him out there was no friction it was easy to pull him out. I found a little bit of blood under his lower mouth (as seen on the picture). He was laying down on his side it looks like there was some brown liquid coming out of his mouth. I am not sure how he passed does anyone have any idea? My father thought it was because he saw him kill a squirrel and maybe the squirrel has bit him. I don’t see any bite marks only that red blood spot.

How old was he? Could he may have been crushed or gotten stuck between the bale and the concrete? Any rat poison or pesticides in your barn?

He is 2 years old, I don’t think he got crushed. That bale has been there for about 4 months, I don’t think it would have moved. We also don’t use any rat poison we never have since he’s always outside.

He was 2 years old. When I last saw him was 2 days ago at night I gave him his dinner and he acted completely normal he ate all of his food as well

I don’t think so, i know in the picture it looks like a small space, but it is something he would normally fit into if he were to hide

Maybe he got injured somehow and crawled under there to hide?
