My Barred Rock Henrietta just passed😭

We found her by the automatic chicken door, my husband opened up her crop to check and see if she got into anything and we couldn’t find anything out of the ordinary. All the other chickens seem fine, they are our pets and for eggs only. She was 2 years old and the second chicken we’ve lost in two years and happened to be both Barred Rocks. Any thoughts?
What should we do with her once she’s dead? We ended up burying her next to the other chicken who died last year. What measures should we be taking?

A more thorough informal necropsy may provide more clues. Sometimes PBRs tend to succumb to hemorrhagic fatty liver.

Welcome to BYC, and sorry for your loss. Sudden death in chickens is generally not an infectious situation. Heart attack or metabolic problem would be possibilities.
