My Basic DIY Incubator

some times you can give late bloomers an extra day, I had some hatch on day 23

Bad news. I had to leave the house today, and asked my mother to watch the incubator. She forgot about it. I came home to 104.9 degrees. My thermometer records temperatures, and the highest it had been was 105.1. It could have been like that for 6 hours or even more. So there is a strong possibility that, if they were alive, they are now dead.

don't give up, still air incubators are 102, and if it fluxes a couple degrees one way or the other it should be okay. not for ever, but for a while.

I agree with @gimmiebirdies. I woke up to my diy bator at 108+ a couple times amd somehow they still came out okay. The temperature spikes are more detrimental in the first few days of incubation.

Really? Wow they're a lot tougher than what people make them out to be lol

Haha yeah, I was freaking out when it first happened though thats why I broke down and got a brinsea because I couldn't deal with waking up to that every morning!

I actually got it to stay at almost exactly 101 for the past two weeks, even at night.
If these don't work out, I'll clean it up and try 'er again... again! lol
I've heard a lot of people say that just 104 could kill an embryo in an hour, so I was a little upset that it could have been at 105 for up to 8. I accidentally left the heat on, it probably wouldn't have spiked if I turned it off.
I guess people don't give them enough credit... Hopefully these little guys make it, though!

(day 20) I noticed my incubator having a tad bit "off" smell when I went to add more water, so I inspected. The egg that I believed was the culprit wasn't too bad (sensitive nose, I guess?) but was dead. I did an eggtopsy and it appears to have died between day 10-12, maybe a little later. It was over an inch long. Poor little guy.
Checked the other one to see if there was any improvement, but there was none.
