My Basic DIY Incubator

I cannot show you the whole of the insides because I have a couple eggs in there waiting to hatch on the 25th, but above were my last batch that is when they were eggs,

the box and the view from above,

These 2 were a diff incubators I made but the concept is the same. funny thing is I have a 15w in both boxes even though the above box is bigger just held the heat better.

AAAHHHHHHH! A huge snowstorm just hit and they're expecting power outages! If the power goes out, I'll have to start all over with new eggs!

Ughh, weather, Y u no cooperate?
It's like a whiteout, I can't see my neighbor's house

I get hand warmers for in case of black outs. once we had a black out 2 days before 2 eggs were due to hatch. I went to bed with those eggs power was on the next day and they hatched on time.

Thanks! I'll have to remember to get some when I can go out again!

I've really had enough of this snow stuff already, it needs to stop!
Where I live, this winter has been pleasantly mild until now. Though it looks like the New England states have got it really bad this year!
Your eggs still doing well?

@torilovessmiles yeah I live in NY and this past month has been pretty crappy and still getting more snow :/ Yes they're still doing good, temp has been staying steady! Did I mention I have been using a feminine pad stuck to the side of the wall to keep the humidity because I didn't have a sponge? Lol >.< it works pretty well

Not necessarily. some folks have had good hatches even after 24 hour outages. It depends on where they are in their development. I bought a power converter for just such occasions. Cost $29 at Walmart. It's even worse when the power goes out when you're brooding chicks, as the brooders take more power.

Love your creative use of a feminine pad. One size fits all, and you can just peel it off and trash it when hatch is over! I may try that for lock down.

That is a seriously creative idea! Lockdown starts Wednesday evening, I'll have to try that!
