Ok so as some of you know, I have some BBS Orpington eggs from Greg Marlett in the incubator. Last night I got 4 pips, and about 3 minutes ago.... I BECAME A MOMMY!!! I have one ENORMOUS black/possible blue who is probably a rooster, and one SPLASH who is probably a hen!! We are having an awful time getting good pics through the Hova windows, but I promise, pics will come soon!!! To the Bator Batman!
Just had another hatch and it is.... ANOTHER SPLASH!!! And the one we thought might be a black is not, it is a blue!!! So so far one blue and two splashes!!!
Okay.... Here is the final tally.. 2 splash 2 blues 2 blacks. (This is subject to change as they dry out ) They are all healthy now and totally active. One of the blues last night was having seizures, but a little poly vi sol and it is as good as new this morning. Of the eleven that made it into the hatcher, here is how they hatched. 3/30 first to pip, first to hatch 3/29 3rd to pip, 2nd to hatch 3/28 2nd to pip, 3rd to hatch 3/25 5th to pip, 4th to hatch 3/29 4th to pip, 5th to hatch 3/? 6th to pip and hatch (forgot to look at date!) 3/22 died first week 3/23 undeveloped except a few veins 3/24 undeveloped 3/29 died after pipped air cell, no obsorbed yolk 3/30 fully developed, died at hatch So the earliest one we had to make it to full term was a 3/25. but all the most recent ones did very well, only two not making it at hatch. Yeah!!!!! 6 fluffy butts!!!!
Congrats, Jess! I'm getting quite a bunch to send out to you come Monday morning. You'll be up to your eyeballs in fluffy butts, LOL!
