I purchased these from Wynette. Her packaging is fabulous. Her roo is gorgeous. Here are my new babies. hatched 11 of 13 in a little giant still air hand turning. 4 blues, 4 splash and 3 blacks
CONGRATS on the awesome hatch, Nicki! Sorry that one egg was a double-yolker...I just didn't have time to candle before sending with all that was happening at home. Gosh, if we don't count the double yolker, your rate was 92%!! I'm so happy for you!! Glad you got a nice ratio of blue/black/splash, too. I'll be so excited to watch these little ones grow up!!!
I have Wynette's Blue Jersey Giant eggs in my incubator. You did so good. 92% hatch rate on shipped eggs is almost unheard of. I think it has a lot to do with the great packing job. All mine arrived in perfect shape. Glad to see the pics. The babies are beautiful.
These eggs were babied the minute they came in the door. I do think alot of it had to do with the packing and how they were handled at the post office. I am still a believer in hand turning. I think in the LG's you get hot/cold spots and hand turning allows you to move them around in the bator. I had two thermometers. One at the top of the eggs and one at the base. Two hydrometers (which were pretty accurate). I was so pleased with this hatch. My hubby and daughter think I am crazy... The hatching gods were good to me this time.

Nicki, you're a breeder's dream come true!! There's so much that can go wrong with hatching eggs, and I think between the two of us, we got them all right! It truly does take skill and effort of both breeder & buyer!!
I've had hens that had less than 50% hatch rates on their own eggs that weren't shipped. You did a fantastic job! Congrats on the adorable chicks. Can't wait to try some for myself. Still breaking in my 'bator.
Thank you all for the kind words. I think I am done hatching this year, but boy am I going to have fun in the spring when my Jerseys start laying. Thank you Wynette for answering all of my crazy questions and listening to me babble on like an expectant mother.
