I lost my first chicken to a predator. I would like to post in her honor.
Sue was a sweet 2.5 year old RIR. She was very mouthy and sassy, yelling at anyone who disturbed her while laying her eggs. She was definitely a protector. She always sounded the alarm when she saw someone she didn't like, including rabbits and my dog, who she chased, LOL. She was the smallest of the flock, yet the bravest. I'm not surprised the hawk went after she. She likely stood her ground and went back after him, trying to protect everyone else. Thankfully my husband was able to get her body so we can bury her.
