My birds have been...burgled?

Very sorry to hear of this. It is one thing to have a chicken taken by a fox, hawk or even a dog. But when human's take them has to be the worst. Again, very sorry.

That's a good idea. I would post flyers with big chicken pictures everywhere. Not many look for lost chickens! And that would grab attention. I sure hope you can find them or who did it.

DickieBird - thank you. If you see any new flocks around Cedar Hill, I'll be there in a flash! I'm the only one (maybe one other person) in my neighborhood with chickens, but I know quite a few people have chickens in neighboring towns. I'm so worried that it'll be a lost cause.

I feel really horrible for the people I hear about daily who get their dogs stolen. I just couldn't imagine one of my huskies being kidnapped. With two large medical research schools in the area, I worry about where all these animals are going!

About animal shelters - why would anyone steal an animal when they could go adopt one. Some shelters have fees as low as $30. Just jerks. I just can't describe how I'm feeling.

Off to set out gifts...and feel cheerier. Ho Ho Ho!

Trust me, medical research schools, especially universities, have their work on leashes so short you need a protocol approved by the big guys to dispose of even fish fry! To get two dogs for dystrophy research cost almost half million dollars... sometimes I wonder if regulation is too tight in the wrong places.

I sure hope your birds are at least being taken care of and not going for food or entertainment of some loose in the head kids. That would be terrible. Makes me want to put a lock on my birds... and people like that are the reason I don't have anyone visit this area if they want to buy birds or eggs. Less people that know the place, the better. Don't lose hope yet though.

I guess people will take whatever they want when ever they want.
some kid tried to take of with my Abbey ( boxer dog ) and I was home at the time it was 11.30 in the afternoon on a sat !! what a dork

I guess you will have to get more babies and start over- unless this person brings them back or someone turns her in.
But take this time to rethink how you have your coop and run and find out how you can make imporvements to keep out 4 legged/2 legged thieves.

That's terrible! So sorry for you and your chickens! I bought padlocks for my coop awhile ago, but have never put them on. I'm concerned that with all the screwy weather, that they'll get iced up, and I won't be able to get in the coop. What do you suppose would be the best type of lock??

IDEA - Ask the postal person who on his route has chickens you can either tell them why you are asking up front or just say you are in need of extra eggs or new chickens...
INCASE THEY DON'T WANT TO BE INVOLVED..

I needed regular chicken egs nce and asked my postal carrier and she told me every house on her route that had chickens... Very informative..

ALSO ask the local bus driver they know everything.

I really think you can find your chickens.
