He is awesome, MissPrissy! Bonnie is a looker, too. He must be an exhibition orp to be so large so young. There's nothing like healthy chickens! I'm happy you finally heard him crow. Pocket has begun crowing more often, and I remember when I thought he couldn't crow. I only recently discovered that it's not unusual for a rooster to cackle, especially when a hen does.
I thought he had some gender issues.
I love the vocabulary of roosters. They make so many more sounds than hens.
Airmom, if he wasn't big I would be worried. It may take him 2 years to reach his full growth potential. I expect he will eventually weigh in at 12 - 15 lbs.
I do love the noises they make. The soft sounds from chickens I find to be very soothing and comforting. Like everything is right in the world. Even the crowing makes me smile.
