I am a first time chicken owner. We got the RIR hens first then were given the Brahma Rooster a few weeks later. They all were about 16 weeks at the time. My question is will my Brahma be able to fertilize the eggs of my hens. They are not small hens by any means. Wondering if anyone else has had this combination. I have a very small bantam rooster and hen but hes smaller than she is so who knows with that combo too!
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to BYC :frow We're so happy you've decided to join us:ya I believe the answer is yes, but will defer to others as I have all large fowl.

I have RIR, one hen one roo, and Light Brahmas, 3 hen 4 roo.

The RIR are a few weeks older, on top of the pecking order, but took in the Brahmas as part of their flock. My hens lay fertile eggs. They have umm “relationships” with everyone.

We are incubating the eggs right now to try and get more hens. We bought the Brahmas online and didn’t know the genders but ended up with lots of roos.

Wow....You have a lot of Cockerels so will need to cull a few Roosters..

We have so many roos! When we got the RIR it was a 90/10% chance of hens but the one I picked turned out to be a roo. We plan on getting more hens and have found homes for 2 of our roos.
One Rooster will happily be able to cover your Hens..Pick one..I would Pick the Brahma Cockerel they are more docile..
