I have an 18 week old Cochin roo. He's been an obvious roo since 6 weeks. He lives with me in the suburbs and so crowing is a no-no. He's watched his polish brother and silkie brother both be fitted with No Crow collars to keep their noise levels to suburb-acceptable levels. Both of them are pretty quiet, with the polish only crowing every few days and the silkie crowing about 3-4 times a day at about 9 am.
This little Cochin stayed quiet until about 2.5 weeks ago when he stood tall and belted his first...crow? It sounds just like an egg song! He's obviously a boy with saddle feathers and awkward attempts to mount the hens. But fantastically, his crow comes out bawk, bawk, bw-gah!!
I don't know if it will stay this way...but this little guy is set for a collar-free, suburban existence if he does!
