I just hatched out eight more chicks - my house is about 70F and the chicks are under the ecoglow and wandering around the brooder already. I love mine! I'm starting to sound like a brinsea employee lol. No more heat lamps!
I also have a broody outside with chicks that are now about two weeks old. They were outside and running around on the lawn at three days old when it was 60-65 outside, only running under mommy now and then. They are hardly under her at all now. I really really think heat until 8 weeks is WAY excessive EVEN when it's cold. I had mine outside with no heat once fully feathered at 5+ weeks and it even dipped well below freezing. No problems, they weren't even huddled.
