My Brinsea ecoglow just came for the chicks!

I just hatched out eight more chicks - my house is about 70F and the chicks are under the ecoglow and wandering around the brooder already. I love mine! I'm starting to sound like a brinsea employee lol. No more heat lamps!

I also have a broody outside with chicks that are now about two weeks old. They were outside and running around on the lawn at three days old when it was 60-65 outside, only running under mommy now and then. They are hardly under her at all now. I really really think heat until 8 weeks is WAY excessive EVEN when it's cold. I had mine outside with no heat once fully feathered at 5+ weeks and it even dipped well below freezing. No problems, they weren't even huddled.

This is a wonderful thread. I also bought an Ecoglow, but because I'm off grid and I don't have the power for a light bulb. My first batch of chicks are now 3 weeks old and spending all day outside in the run. I am also noticing that chickens are a lot hardier than the basic guidelines might suggest. I think mine will be out in the coop with no added heat at about 5 weeks
