Ok, so what I have decided to do based on the information provided is to only put lamps (2) on one half 2'x4' and none in the second half. I will put food and water in the non-lighted area and see what these little fuzzy butts do....

Very awesome. We found a peel and stick mirror in walmart and put that on one end and they loved it. Silly chicks would run at it and strut their stuff, it was so cute.

Many on here find, as I did, they wanted markedly cooler temps than recommended, like 10 degrees cooler. Also, remember that simply adding the chicks will raise the temp, especially after a few hours. My broody raised chicks have been outdoors all day since a few days old; they much prefer pecking and scratching to getting warm under mama, other than at night. I suspect your chicks will be very happy.
