Hey Folks
my brooder is under an awning at the barn. Its well over 90 degrees here everyday. My chicks are staying well away from the heat lamp. can I just leave it off during the day and turn it on at night when it cools off? This is my first summer time hatch. Thank you

I would give it a try and monitor the reaction of your chicks as an indicator of their comfort level.

Most definitely! How old are your chicks? They start out at 90-95 degrees for their heat source and each week reduce by approx. 5 degrees...poor little things are getting cooked...eek!!
