My broody chicken, maybe... another chicken's fertilized eggs.

I hope you're right. I'm honestly just trying to avoid the drama of the introduction of the new chickens to the group. I'd like to give the eggs the best chance of hatching of course. I've always heard they have to stay facing a certain way...i don't know how long they can be without a chicken on them...etc etc etc
 
You don't have to worry about that. The broody turns the eggs when they need to be turned. She is your incubator with a beak (and attitude). I generally take my hen off for 10-15 minutes break twice a day, or more sometimes, but the eggs can last a bit longer. Just keep asking questions. There are plenty of people willing to help you.
