Alright, a couple weeks ago my hen, lowest in the pecking order, a Easter Egger name Indigo, Decided to go broody.I soooo wanted to have her hatch some eggs, but even if my mum did say yes, it wouldn't have worked out.A couple days later I fixed up a broody cage.EEEEEEE.
Did.Not.Work.The next morning my mom said she was freaking out, and she had food and water spilled every where.

So today, fast forward about a week and a half, I fixed the broody cage once more.It looks.....Interesting.It has some wood planks and brick to keep her off the ground, newspaper on the bottom for easy cleanup, a chick Waterer, and a plastic container with feed.It is a dog crate, with green garden netting zip-tied to it, to prevent her from sticking her head out. Will get pictures soon!

Thanks for reading!

*Please read:Before you say something.YES.I DO relize my run is NOT secure, NOT, Suitible, NOT perfect.I am working on it.This fall they are getting a brand new, Secure, perfect run.Just because my run is bad, doesn't mean I don't take care of my chickens. They have fresh water, re-filled 1-2 a day with cool fresh water, and scrubbed three times a month, and my coop is cleaned out and scraped down twice a month, and the nest boxes are hosed down.
(And I relize I should be doing the coop more often, but it stresses my chickens out and I hate seeing the girls so stressed)

You can leave her and not separate her from the flock and she will still be ok.
Just let nature do its thing.
If she is no longer broody you will have to wait again sometimes it is just best to leave it alone to not freak the hen out and if you have to move wait even till she hatches then move her and chicks at night.

No, I think I may have not been clear.I am trying to BREAK her.I do NOT want her to hatch.

She freaked out last night.
Modified it, she's fine.
