My Budgie and I Need Your Help

[Budgie life]

So my budgie, Meep has pink skin around his eyes and his eyes turned red. His eyes are usually black and aren’t swollen like this. We took him to the vet and he said that Meep might have gotten cleaning chemicals from our housekeeper that used to come. We have separated him and his mate because that is what the vet recommended us do, but I only see a tiny change in his right eye, and the left is still pretty swollen. All he does is sleep and poop. His tail is bobbing but I can’t hear any bad noises coming from him. The car ride home he was chirping but that is it unless you count what noises he made when we were giving him his medicine. He ate a tiny bit of seed, but his corn remains untouched. I’m in dire need of help, the vet didn’t recommend us anything, it sounded like he was totally guessing. They had him on oxygen and his tail wasn’t bobbing then. Please anybody can you help me? He is about a year old and weights 27 grams (underweight by 3 grams) and is green with a yellow tail and black and green striped head. His mate (also male) is perfectly fine. Just misses him a bit.

Thanks, Meep is doing a bit better and the ointment that the vet gave me is working slowly but it will improve. His right eye is black again but the skin around it is still a little swollen. The left eye’s swelling went down a lot but it is still pretty red. Meep is eating right now so I will take a few pictures soon. Thanks for your reply!

Meep is a cute name! I loved my budgies back in the day. Have cats now.... do hope you post pics. The way you describe it, it sounds as if he has a shiner like he got in a fight. Poor little guy! Hope he is back to his spunky little self in no time! Chemicals, boo!

Here are some pictures from the other day. He doesn’t seem to notice my hands when I pet him and I think he may be loosing his eye sight. I couldn’t get him to open his urges but they where dark red almost black now. His feathers are messed up from the greasy medication.

He's a pretty bird. I had one when I was younger that looked just like him. It's possible he might've scratched his eye and it got infected. I hope the ointment helps.
