My buff Orpington can’t close her beak

New development: one of her eyes is swollen shut and she laid an egg streamed with blood on the outside. Others are starting to sense weakness and pick on her. I’m so stressed; for I want so desperately to help her.

PLEASE post some photos or get a video of the bird. (Inside of beak, how she acts, her poop...anything that may help us.) Thanks.
For video, upload to youtube and provide a link.

You mention her tongue is back - is there a string or hair wrapped around the tongue?

IF you are considering deworming her - then please use the CORRECT dose for Safeguard. For Gapeworm, dose is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally once a day for 5 days in row.

Gapeworm is not that common, so I would consider that there's something else going on.

Okay, here are symptoms this morning. Oral lesions inside the mouth. Yellowish and I removed as many as possible. She pecks at food but doesn’t go all the way in so she couldn’t grab it even if she wanted to. There doesn’t seem to be anything wrapped around the tongue, but lots of tongue flicking when I’m working with her mouth. Occasionally she’ll open her mouth wide like she’s choking/coughing. There seems to be no respiratory distress.

Beak is closing more today than yesterday- I located a sore at the base of her jaw joint and treated it last night with vetericyn plus. The sore seems to be in exact position for affecting both jaw and the eye above, which is still shut. Crop is empty, so I still can hardly locate it. I know she’s hungry. My husband held a little strawberry up to her last night and she gobbled it up in a quick motion. I’ve offered egg and feed together with a little grit and water with apple cider vinegar and the oregano sav a chick. She is isolated from the flock for now.

i am jumping on this thread but im guessing i need to treat mine for gapeworm as well however i have no clue how much each weigh, is there an average amount to give them?

Can chickens get bee stings and get affected by it? That was my non-expert thought. Until the lesions inside the mouth.

Poor chick. I hope you're able to get to the bottom of this and she recovers.

Can you start your own thread?
Include photos and symptoms, where you are located as well.

Gapeworm is not that common unless you live in warm tropical climates.
But if you feel they need treated for Gapeworm, then use the dosing in the previous post.
You will need to weigh at least a few birds to get an average if they are of similar size so you can give a fairly accurate dose.
You can always weigh yourself, then pick up a bird and weigh again. The difference will get you close.

Editing to add - looking at your posts - you live where there's a lot of smoke right now. Sounds like your flock is sneezing some? You mention no gaping, no issues breathing. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/hey-all-im-new-here.1486113/post-24774020
I did look at your video briefly, your birds do not have Gapeworm.
Likely smoke. But do check to make sure her crop is emptying overnight.
For now, I would monitor her and do nothing unless the crop is not emptying.
