My chicks hatched this weekend, and boy are buttons TINY!!! I got a total of 17 from 36 shipped eggs. I think I broke 1 egg candling them before I set them, then the turner broke 4, I had to remove the shelf liner, it made too much traction for the buttons and the resistance smashed them right up. Once I took out the liner they turned fine with no issues. I had the last of my celadon eggs from the cages that were invaded and the birds massacred. I had set all the eggs, even weird shaped, filthy, odd shelled ones lol, plus all my fridge eggs, and I’m gonna say at least 15 popped in the bator, and I had to spot clean like 6 times, but I put in anything I thought had a chance at all. I believe I ended up with 12 or 13 cots.
Here are the pics:
I put in 1 cot chick for the picture, to give size reference.
Here are my cots, several snowies and pearls. Unfortunately, I had moved some into the cages from the grow out, and it hadn’t been 2 weeks (more like 4 days), so I can’t be sure they’re all celadons, they could have been mated by the k dales before they were moved, so any males I keep will need to be tested, but I have all winter to work on that.
I have a few fakers:
