My 10 year old beautiful Himilayan Persian cat was likely killed by a coyote sometime last week. Today, I followed coyote tracks onto the neighbor’s property and eventually stumbled onto a couple of tufts of her matted fur in a clearing where all the weeds were flat. It was obviously a coyote’s bedding area. She had thick, long hair and wouldn’t let me cut the mats that often formed on the areas of her neck. She was a ragdoll which means she went limp when picked up. I can’t help but hope that maybe she tore herself away as soon as the coyote put her down on ground. Maybe those mats of fur on her neck prevented his teeth from injuring her too badly. This is wishful thinking. But I’d give anything to find out she escaped and just got lost as she was being chased. I have posters up everywhere.
