Hi all

My cat Sochin (its Japanese, pronounced So-Shin) is nearly 15 years old. She LOVES her food, but on Thursday (9th) she didn't want
her food which was really weird. After going to sleep on me for a while she begged me to go outside, so I let her out.

She didn't come home on Friday :( and we searched Friday evening (when she gets fed), Saturday we asked all neighbors
to check the gardens, sheds and whatnot but still no Sochin.

On Monday I phoned all our local vets, its difficult when your cat is pure black except for 3 white hairs... they asked for
any distinctive features, all you want to say is "yes, she loves everything, she licks my dogs ears cleaned, she likes to sleep
on you face, she wont sit on the floor - she has to have something to sit on, she wont go out the front of my house as she gets scared... she might not be special to you, but she is to my family and me".

A few days ago we found some fur in the field behind my house and as much as I hate to admit it... it looked like hers (she was beginning to malt and the fur had the brown bits in it that she had). Obviously it was heartbreaking.
The past few days have been awful, well every day since she went missing has been awful. Its strange how much you miss your cat or any pet when they are not there.

I know this must sound horrible, but I need another cat... not to replace Sochin because no cat could but the house feels so empty without a cat in it, it feels empty without Sochin here .....

I'm sorry you have lost your beloved cat.

And you are right to want another cat. Not to replace the one you lost, because of course, no other animal can do that. Each pet makes its own place in your heart, and having another one can make the void left by the one you lost ache a bit less. Hope you find the right one soon.

I'm sorry. It's tough.

I have several old cats and am expecting to be facing a lot of loss here in the next couple years.
I try to keep in mind that every loss opens up space for 2 more.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your cat!

This is my cat, Phoebe.

She's not allowed outside. She was a rescue cat and has no front claws. We have way too many predators here to be roaming around outside without them (it's even dangerous with!). This is her Christmas stocking.

I'm hoping these pictures cheer you up some!

So sorry to hear about you cat.

I used to have four cats. Dyllen (about 6 months old) Star (also about six months old), Siam (about 2 years old), and Conoco (about 12 years old). Once we went out of town and I came back to all of them gone (which wasn't unusual for Siam because he would always run off). Eventually, I did find Dyllen and Star, but never did find Conoco. I dreamed ever night for at least a month that he came back. So I know what it feels like. Also, I completely understand. Once I lost my three ducks (I think) to a skunk. I did get more ducks. Not to replace them, but it just felt weird not having ducks.

Thanks for all the kind messages <3 I only posted it to get it off my chest and I really didn't think anyone would reply.

There has been no further news on Sochin </3 I still call her in for dinner but she doesn't come.

As it was just not getting any better, we decided we needed to get another cat kitten. After looking on facebook/preloved
for cats/kittens needing a new home we came across these two who were free to a good home. I know people are against giving animals away as 'free to a good home' and
so am I, but I also object to paying crazy prices for a cat - when the money could be put towards getting its jabs, micro-chipping and having them spayed etc.
We met with the family (who owned the mum) and couldn't choose which one we liked more, so ended up taking them both home (much to the previous owners delight).

The lighter coloured one we think is going to be called Koshka (its Russian for cat, I think), as my mum is crazy and got to name her.
The darker one is more fluffy with a bit of a longer coat, any name suggestions? (They are both girls)

Sadly I don't have any good photos of Sochin on my laptop :( but it wasn't her looks that made her great, its her personality - and I don't need photos to remember that!

Feel free to stick around in this thread, I like seeing you photos are reading your stories (although I am sorry to hear that some of you have had the same experience as me).

I'll post some more pictures of the kittens when i get a chance :D
