Ok so im a first timer and I have already read about pasty butt and the solutions. My only issue that it isn't a big clump of poop, its a small layer. How can I get it off without hurting her?

I used a cotton ball (or two) soaked in warm water to wash poop of chick fuzz.

I've also given an older chick a bath (getting poop from other chicks all over her because she's bigger and warmer? and they dog pile around her when she sits).

Thanks so much I will definitely try this.

I had this issue a couple of weeks ago. Warm cotton balls and I had to drip the water on the bum to help lossen it up, I also put mineral oil on after (just a drop) and it seemed to help keep it from happening a 2nd time.

I usually get a cotton tip or a small cloth thats wet.

I think the easiest way is to dip the whole bum in some warm water. Soak it a min and try to coax it loose.
However if its just a little crumble stuck to the fuzz next to the vent then I leave it be. Should knock its self off next time someone knocks the waterer around. Or if its a puffball then soon enough it will sit in someones poo and need a full removal. I swear the little ball of fluff ones love to get poo stuck to them just to get extra attention.
Also you can just dab room temperature water on any pasty butt leave it for a min to soak in, maybe repeat, and any poo should roll right off. Never needed any equipment or oil.
