I made a thread about my bird(Auggie) being dead with a lot of feathers. My mom and her friend were outside and he was chirping. We were thrilled but then soon frustrated because every time he'd chirp, we'd inspect the area and nothing. Then he stopped for an hour, his chirping coming from multiple places prior. I'm not sure what to do. We searched for what seemed like two hours.

Pick things up carefully, look behind anything that looks like a chick could have slipped through a crack or crevice. They are so tiny - remember their fluff squishes down and their actual little chickie body is So Tiny. A chick could be hiding / stuck almost anywhere.

Not too long ago, I thought I'd lost one to the dog somehow, and it turned out she had accidentally been trapped underneath a small waterer! Luckily, she was just a little smooshed, but otherwise nestled in the pine shavings and totally fine. If they are chirping, that's a good sign, so keep looking!

I lost a quail chick somewhere in the garage. I could here it peeping but couldn't find it. I let one of my dogs out- they are very good with the animals- and she found him in seconds. Stuck between a tripod stand.

My dad is a mechanic and he has his heavy metal junk EVERYWHERE... Auggie could be anywhere and everyone but my dad is helping and that's who we need because we can't mess with his stuff much. He only chirped for around an hour... I think he might've suffocated... Or died due to dehydration. Which I think him being killed by an animal(what we originally thought happened) would've been better than him suffering.

That's one of those situations where it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

The bait chick is a good idea. They can just get tired / discouraged.
We once had a chick escape during cleaning and made it under our porch, which is all fenced off to keep hens from laying under there. She was just tiny enough to cram through and determined not to come out. We put a bigger chick in a cage next to the porch with food and water and waited. It only took an hour for little chick to show up in the cage with her friend.
