My chicken almost ate a mouse what do I to to the mouse

so my chicken had a mouse in her mouth and I rescued it it’s currently under a flower pot I don’t want my chickens eating the poor little mouse what should I do it’s home is in the chicken yard

Release it somewhere else? Honestly I would have just let them have it. Chickens are not vegetarians.

I greatly admire how compassionate you are for the little mouse but if his hole is near your chicken coop he will go back over there.

I am sure there is some way to keep it from getting eaten.

Just release it elsewhere.....but if your chicken found one...there is more! Let them take care of pest control....Good luck!

Is the mouse injured or unharmed? When my animals catch mice and other critters, if they are severely wounded and will not survive, I feel it's my responsibility to quickly end their suffering. I choose not to allow my cat/dogs/chickens eat rodents they catch/kill because I do not know if neighbors set out poison or anything. If it's alive and well, I'd set it free and let nature take its course, whatever that may be.
