My chicken ate a baby bird

My granddaughter used to catch toads and throw them to the chickens. I tried to tell her it was cruel but you know how little kids are. They would chase each other around for the frog for 10-15 mins. The granddaughter called it "Frog Football " for chickens!
:he
:lau On the other hand, think of all the protein they were getting!

The other day, I was putting shredded cedar bark in my flower bed. When I opened the bag, a mouse ran out. As I was spreading the bark, I found 6 baby mice. They had hair, but their eyes weren't open yet. So I did what any self-respecting chicken owner would do. Put them in a bucket and went to visit the chickens. The chickens had a rousing game of keep away, and the baby mice didn't feel a thing soon after being introduced to the chickens.

Frog Football and Pinky Mouse Tag.

Those Lil Dinosaurs know how to have fun! :wee
Pinky Mouse Tag.... :lau (To be honest, I felt just a little bad because, well, baby animals... But the mama wasn't going to come back, they would have either starved to death or I'd have had to find another way to exterminate them. The chickens appreciated it.)

All birds literally are dinosaurs. The only question is how far back you can go and still have them specifically be birds. There's actually no clear dividing line between dinosaurs that aren't birds and dinosaurs that are birds. Dinosaurs ate each other millions of years ago, and they still do it now.

I'm sure that was shocker to witness, especially the parents behavior......Chicken Yard Drama!

Chickens do have tiny talons on their wrists.
Was a thread not long ago where it was abnormally large.

You know, I have wondered about this because I have actually felt sharpness on that area of their wings when handling them.
