My chicken ate so much he is having trouble breathing

It is one of my buff orpingtons.

He ate so much that he fell over and is gasping for air.

His craw is packed tight.

I ate scratch grains or poultry grains depending on what they call it.

Is there any way i can dissolve what is in his craw and give him relief?

What do you suggest?

Giving him some olive oil might help lubricate the mass and cause it to slide down his throat better. However, I think that you may just have to keep him quiet, and let the stuck food slowly work its way down on its own.

He didn't make it sadly. He died shortly after i posted the thread. Didn't get to him soon enough i guess.

However if anyone has more ideas feel free to post them. This might happen again someday and it would be good to know what to do in the future.

I'm sorry for your loss. That is why chickens shouldn't be allowed to gorge themselves on treats, such as grain.
