My chicken ate WHAT????

has anyone ever heard of chickens eating milkweed? there was some growing in my chicken run and the chickens have stripped the plants as high as they can reach. none seem to be sick or acting oddly. i just had never heard of anything but monarch catepillars eating milkweed.

Yes mine ate my milk weed. I'm wondering if I can dig the roots up and replant it as you said the butterflies need it which is why I never let dh kill it or remove from the fence line.

so glad to know that some one else has had this. what is "DH"? and it was in my run all of last year and they just ignored it. glad to see you are from indiana too so you really know what milkweed is!!

I'm curious now to see if mine will eat milkweed so I'm going to pick a leaf tomorrow to see. I keep an area in my back yard natural so i have it growing there.
