My chicken cuddle bug

I realize many of you may have come across this but this is my first time with chickens & this is amazing to me lol

So every time I’d put my hand into the little brooder box we have, which has 27 babies in it, this one little chickie-baby would climb up my arm trying to reach my shoulder!

On the third time I thought I’d pick her up & see what would happen, fully expecting her to try & fly away in fright, but getting quite the opposite reaction I continued to see how far I could go holding this baby.

turns out she’s a cuddle bug, shoulder chicken lol. Please meet one of my Rhode Island girls, Tulip:

She is so cute!! Lovely pattern too! Fully expect chicken cuddles when they're fully grown, too, if you cuddle them now
All well and good until you have any more than two or three that want to sit on your lap. She looks very robust and healthy.

I have been trying to cuddle them all to ensure non-aggressive adults, this one started on her own tho I am for sure continuing to cuddle them all I’d love a cuddly adult lol.

there are a few in this batch that have lovely patterns, a couple I’ve dubed “chipmunk”, as they literally look like baby stripped (and colored) baby chipmunks! I do hope that stays for the most part as adults.

they were to have had a hatch date of March 30th, but my partner is sure they hatched earlier, So that seems to fits

Only one of my nine chickens will not come and sit on my lap. She has always been a bit skittish. I managed to get her to stay on my lap for a bit a few days ago and I was so excited . The roosters are a bit heavy though

27 chicks though how are you going to manage that? You'll have to have some on your shoulders. Enjoy having them. I'd love to be having chicks at the moment.

ya it shall be fun lol. But I currently just try and grab one or two throughout the day. I also just put my arm in there and whomever hops aboard gets cuddles lol

That doesn't always work out, especially with males.
Frequent handling can make for easier handling when they are older.
