My 33 week old silver laced wyandotte "Reina" died on Tuesday. Sad

I am trying to figure out why???

This is how Reina was:
She has always being the loner of the flock.
Never liked me to touch her.
She was not a big eater, when I would bring treats, she was the last one to show up and would stay at a distance.
She never laid a single egg.
She would sleep alone, sometimes inside one of the nesting boxes(only if I put the boxes on the ground she would sleep in the same area as the rest but not IN the group)

What concerns me is that she was healthy (or so I thought) she was growing a nice fluffy tail. Weather has change and I wonder if that had anything to do with her death??? No signs of animals breaking into the gazebo (coop). She was dead on the floor in the morning.
This weekend my DH built the chickens a new roost and we placed a heat lamp on top of it. I hope the rest will be OK.

I'm so sorry.

I had a blue pullet like that that never laid an egg.

I'm guessing she had something amiss internally and there was probably nothing you could have done for her.

Glad she had such a kind owner.

Yep, her age, and the fact that she never laid, seems to indicate she was an internal layer, or something of that sort. Sometimes chickens also just up and die from heart issues, etc...I'm sure she had a good life. Looks like you had a rooster that had some interest in her...?

Thank you for you comment. I had no idea what "internal layer" was. At least I know what could have gone wrong. And no roosters in my flock (not the neighbor's favorite)
