Please help. We are quite new to chicken keeping and one of them has a limp (we have 3 chooks)
She stands with it up and occasionally puts weight on it but only for a brief moment. There is nothing visibly wrong with the leg and she seems alert/healthy and is eating as usual...

Should we separate her from others?
Should we keep her in the coop (because they have quite a large garden area to roam around it)

WE are really not sure what to do for best.
Any help much appreciated! Thank you x

First thing I would do is check the bottom of her foot for a roundish scabby looking thing and possible swelling of her pad. If that's there, then she has bumblefoot. If the bottom of her foot appears normal, then I'd suspect that she has landed on it wrong or twisted it. If that's the case you'll want to restrict her as much as possible to rest it (a dog crate maybe???). If she's a heavy breed, is it possible your roosts are too high?? Just some ideas to consider...
