My girl is about 6 months old and has recently become poorly. It started with her sleeping in a nest box rather than perching, this did not seem unusual for her. She then began limping and not being able to walk in a straight line. We isolated her just in case and the symptom just got worse. She now can only walk a couple of steps without support. She is refusing to eat without encouragement and will just sleep if we don't wake her up. She is on antibiotics from the vet but they don't know what it is. When force feeding her she puts up a battle and will in her temper feed herself and take water. She is very underweight and the vet advises feed feed feed. Of course we don't know how much exactly. Her crop is squidgy and does grow when being fed. We have started what we call physio with her, supporting her while she takes some steps across the floor, but she remains leaning to the right. If she is laid down on her right she does not get up but on the left she does. I have noticed today that her left little toe is pointing forwards and her right little toe is pointing backwards. We just do not know what else to do. We have decided to give her until the antibiotics finish to make a decision as its not life for her. She is being fed on sunflower seeds, layers pellets, water with vitamins and as extras scrambled egg and pasta. She is having regular baths as she does not clean herself and will just sit in her droppings. Can anyone shed any light please. I think I have put it all, she is vaccinated and wormed. Look forward to hearing from you.
