Hello
I have a 3 month old chicken and she needs to sit as often as possible. She drinks from a feeder sat down (have put a lower one in for her) She looks very healthy and doesnt have any other problems. Her legs are thicker than the legs of the other chickens her age, they look stronger than the others. Can anyone offer some advice. She isn't being picked on and seems okay. Thank you Karengoslin

Welcome to BYC! :ya
She sounds okay, she probably is just taking little brakes to rest.

:frow welcome to BYC !!

Sounds like you have a Cornish cross meat bird. That's their normal behavior. Limit her feed so she doesn't get heart or leg issues.

Hello chickenychicken, thanks for the welcome....well, she will walk say a few inches and then sits and instinctively I feel there is something wrong.

Hi there nj2wv and nice of you to welcome me on here.

Well, I believe she is Rhode Island Red, I have an old Rhode Island Red and she looks like her. She appears a fine specimen too apart from this sitting thing. I don't think she is crossed with a Cornish meat bird (is that like a broiler or something? oooow) She isn't out of breath she just has to sit after a few steps but doesn't in any way seem ill.
Do you think she might have been born disabled?
