My polish chicken has not been as active as the other chickens this Week. She is 8 months old. Also she has been opening her mouth a lot like she is hot even when its cool outside. I have seperated her from the other chickens So i can closely monitor her. She is eating and drinking normaly. She is also laying like usual. She eats normal chicken feed the ones for the whole flock. She does not eat layer but i give her some calcium just in case she needs more. She is also given some grit. She had a bit of Dried blood on her beak but it was when she was 4 Months old and its now all healed. Also the poop looks normal.

Sorry to hear your chicken is not doing well. I'm not an expert with sick birds...hoping someone else will chime in soon for you. You sound like you have checked some of the most obvious things...I think if it were my bird I would add some electrolites to her water and see if she would eat some yogurt..the kind with good probiotics in it. Do you free rage? could she have possibly eaten something that was not good for her?

i will give her some electrolites and probotics. I do free range them but my garden is mostly dirt since the chickens ate most of the grass. But just in case ill look out for some plants that might make her sick.

Polish Chickens are more susceptible to colds and diseases than the typical breed. I've never owned any myself, but a friend of mine used to have a lot and she would have problems with colds after being in the rain for a while and a few with cerebral hernias. I'm definitely no expert, but colds are more common with this breed. Hopefully someone more qualified could give you a more in-depth answer soon, and hopefully everything turns out alright.

Any chance she got a peck to the head or any head injury/trauma?
Take a look inside her beak for any obstruction, lesions or plaques. Since you have her separated, check her crop to see that it's emptying overnight and feel for any bloat/swelling or fluid accumulation in the abdomen.

Offer poultry vitamins and watch to see if she is eating o.k.

She is getting a bit more active now. She would stand up and run for a little bit. But she still opens her mouth a lot.
