my chicken just barely made it out alive from a possum attack, what do i do?

When you get a chance, post some photos.

Can he take a few steps at all?
Systane is probably o.k. to help lubricate the eye but it doesn't have any antibiotic properties. Terramycin or plain neosporin can be used in the eye.

Even if only some feathers are missing, he may have some internal injuries, hard to know.
I would continue to see that he's drinking. I would give him plain water and see how it goes.

Photos of him? Yes he can walk but he just doesnt.

Not sure what angle is best, but this is what he looks like today... the other side of his head is the damaged eye, not sure if he can’t open it, but he won’t unless you get it open.

Hi, is he an Ayam Cemani? Is he all alone now that the hen was killed? You say he can walk but he doesn't, do you think he could be lonely or depressed? @EggSighted4Life do you think he would do well with a stuffed animal for company, or possibly a mirror? Mirror might be a bad plan if he perceives it as another roo, and a threat. Hmmm. Thoughts?

He is a silkie bantam, yes he is alone, and I dont have another crate to put a hen in for company. I dont really want to put one in with him because i dont want his wounds getting picked at and it will probably be too crowded with 2 chickens in there.

Wonderful news! Csn you post a photo of his eye? If he is eating , drinking snd pooping Ok, I think he could go back to the flock. Are you able to you prevent another predator attack?

Oops... I did not read all the updates. Maybe he is not ready to return to the flock if he has visible injuries?

he does have some visible injuries still, i will post a photo of his eye later because i have a class here in a few minutes. I was looking around the web searching for what could possibly be wrong with his eye, i found something that i think looks like his, called a hyphema. I havent got a super good look but thats the closest i am able to guess. I dont want to shine a light in his injured eye because i dont want to hurt it. I will try to get a better look later.

So right now where im at it is 10:22 PM and i heard cackling outside. I went with my dad with the .17 and shot the possumm so hes not a problem anymore. Anyway, the hen that was with him got shredded and he made it out barely alive. All of his tail feathers are gone, but the only thing wounded to bleeding is he has a small cut on his waddle, his comb is kinda beat up, and his eye is badly injured. His right eye is jabbed in and the pupil is red. He wont open it so unless i should do otherwise for now im just going to leave it alone. He cant walk by himself so I have him in a small crate in the house. He is wrapped with a towel to keep warm because he is wet and muddy. Also, I dabbed as much blood as i could off his face and nostrils so he could breath. Home made treatments are preferred. He is still breathing pretty normal.

My experience has been....if there is no visible wound other than the one on her waddle she should be ok. The tail feathers will grow back in, and the waddle will bleed quite a bit but there are so many blood vessels in there so really it should clot up and be fine. I would continue to keep it separate so that the others don't bully it because it is injured. Good luck!
I just had 2 neighbors dogs attack my chickens and out of 16 birds I lost 3.
