I just got back from a week-long vacation to find my 3-year-old easter-egger hen laying limp in a pile of her own diarrhea. I took her to the vet to see if she could be saved or if we should put her out of her misery and he gave her a quick exam and said that she is all feathers and bones and cannot be saved. He gave her a quick shot of euthanasia in her thigh and said she'd be dead before we got home. He told me to check my other 2 chickens to see if they had lost a lot of fat around their breasts because that is a sure sign they're sick and hiding it.... Sure enough one of my two chickens feels very boney. The remaining two look well - fluffy and bright - but one feels a lot bonier than she should. I'm just so sad right now. I don't want the other 2 to die as well. They are definitely pet chickens to us and not just yard birds.
What should I do to save the other two? They're both also 3-years old - one's a BO and one's a BR.
Thanks.
