My chicken keeps sitting down

Well I was wrong and you was right. She has what definitely looks like bumblefoot. It looks like a veruca. So now I need to figure out to treat this as I really don't want the expense of paying a bird vet if I can help it.

Thank you. I watched a video, possibly this one. I'm off out soon but I will have a watch anyway but the video I saw, they basically cut it out. We managed to do this. We sterilised everything before doing and I've just tied a bit of gauze with some cotton inside and lightly tied it. I didn't want to tie it too tight. She was good as gold while we were doing it and seems a bit better so fingers crossed!

Wonderful news! Use what they call VetWrap to bandage her foot up. It's a stretchy self-sticking tape stuff and it's great! You can get it at any veterinarian and even the pharmacy....so good to hear she's on the mend...keep us updated!!

Thank you. Will do. I feel so bad that I made her bleed! My mum did most of it as my husband was at work and I'm just not cut out for actually deliberately hurting my pets, even if it is for their own good and health. So I feel really bad, especially with how calm she was. She did flutter a little bit but my mum was snuggling her into her arms and I was stroking her head. I just hope that she's all ok now because I really, really like this chicken!

That's good that you now know what was causing her the problems. was it one foot or both? there are some great creams, powders and sprays out there which are anti septic/ antibiotic which can be used to pack wounds as well. Yes cohesive bandages are brilliant things, tho I have found them to be over priced at the vets/ sports/ equine stores and I personally order mine online and I can get 6 for the price of 2

Just the one foot. The other looks fine. I was amazed that she had it. When I googled it, I thought I would have noticed a lump like that on her foot but hers wasn't too big. It really did just look like a verruca. I'm going to see how the gauze I've put on goes. It seemed to be working well. And I just tucked a tiny bit of cut-up flannel inside so that it might be more comfortable for her.
