Well this is a first for me. One of my new layers laid this “egg” on the roost. At first though thought it was a broken egg but I took a closer look and sure enough it looks like a little jalapeño, maybe I should cut back their red pepper intake 😂

I hope not. I was thinking it’s just an oddly shaped egg. It has an actual shell and as far as I’ve read lash eggs are not shelled is that correct? I haven’t opened it yet and I guess that would be the true tell right?
Lash eggs are puss so it would be good to open it up and see.

I've never had one like that from any of my flock, and maybe someone else that has will show up here to let you know.

Well I tried to cut it open and it ended up cracking like and egg. Definitely had a shell, had whites and a tiny yoke so I’m thinking just super strange shaped egg? In hindsight a yellow plate was a bad decision for picture taking purposes (all the off color bits are broken shell).

Well I guess its just a weirdly shaped egg, especially since you said its one of the new layers.
Do you know who laid it?
